I finally found a breeder of yorkies willing to give up a little grooming info! She has videos on grooming and was really nice when I asked her a few questions!

Pet Beds, Blankets and Accessories!
Like most things, I've researched this to death before committing. I know that little dogs like to burrow under blankets so I made Ruby a cuddle bag. I saw one in a pet store for like $200 so I went to buy fabric!
It's pink and brown to match Kayla's room. I'm assuming she will want Ruby sleeping in there with her once she's fully potty trained :)
I'm having less luck with finding a collar... I'd like one that is or has red in it because of her name. But the only really cute little ones are either hundreds of dollars or don't come in her size. I'm a little shocked about the sizing because my other dog has always been too big for everything! I've been on eBay, I even tried to buy one but the seller had the description wrong and the colour was blue :( I guess I'm back to looking! Either that or I'll just get a slip lead for when we go out and otherwise let her go without one on while in the house. Will her long hair do better without one on? More research to follow I guess!
Anyways, here's the cuddle bag (I think they're actually called cuddle sacks)

We've found one!
Once we decided to finally get a Yorkie, the new question would be from where...
I contacted all the Yorkshire Terrier Breeders I could find within about a 3 hour drive radius in all directions and was met with SO much rudeness! Is there some elite club of Yorkie Breeders that don't want anyone else to have them? I finally found one just outside of Kingston that was willing to sell on a full CKC registration. What that means is that I am not restricted to a non breeding contract so I can A. Show her in CKC competitions and B. Breed her if I choose to down the line. I'm not convinced that it's the direction I'm going to take but I like having the option. What I really like however, is that Kayla can be a junior handler and compete in obedience events.
Ok, so we found the dog but what to name her? We came up with Ruby, but CKC registered dogs can't just have one name you know. They need 3, and you have to give a list of 3 possibilities incase someone else has already named their dog the same name you've chosen! So we mulled over a bunch of names that go with Ruby and have decided on Dixon's Ruby Tuesday or Dixon's Ruby Slippers... I'm hoping we won't have to fall back on a third name because It's Tanner's Ruby Slipper :) Dixon is the breeder that we are getting her from. Apparently, that's what the cool kids are doing in terms of naming their new friends.
On to the research of Ruby... I'm going to have to pluck the hair from inside her ears, shave the tips of them and shave her butt. I'm not very comfortable with the idea of doing any of those three at the present time but I guess I'm going to have to get on it! As I was looking on youtube to find out how to go about this hair removing, I got a little nervous and contacted the closest breeder/groomer of yorkies to me and asked if she would groom my pup and possibly show me how to go about this hair removal and she was incredibly offended. Is there some unwritten rule of helping other owners out? I felt like I had asked her to shave my husband's butt, not my dog's! Note to self, don't ever let one of Dayjuel's yorkies have sexy time with my Ruby!
